Lovely
Contradiction, My Obsession
Above beam creaks under you
As you work in the kitchen.
A perfect sound
Sending blushing warmth radiating from my heart,
Like a million butterflies gently fluttering gossamer wings
On a journey to my fingertips.
The crisp night air’s cool touch
Through the open window
Caresses my warm skin
Along with the worn softness of your midnight blue bed sheets.
They exude the scent of Downy softener
Mingled with the tangy sweetness of your green apple shampoo.
I breathe it in
Along with the primal scent of fire
From the candle breeding
Light and shadow.
It illuminates this space which has captured your essence.
I lie under the Starry, Starry Night of VanGogh
Under Picasso’s Crying Woman.
How obsessed they were.
How obsessed I’ve become
With your thin cotton curtains.
Unable to resist the wind’s song
They dance a dance of madness, of desire.
They kiss the top of your shelves
That are packed with worn bindings
Of Homer, of Plato
Nestled comfortably among Stephen King.
It is you.
The faded Tarot cards which sit upon the Bible.
A contradiction at peace with itself.
This unnatural natural order
I love...
